As you can see, "Stuff that sucks" beat the holy hell out of "Stuff that's good," 15-4. Let's see how the dorm stacks up now that the initial shock of all that yellow paint has worn off to some degree. Plus, for added scientificity, things will be weighted according to how much they suck or don't suck.

Sadly, the outside of the building has not changed. From the south side windows of Max Palevsky Central, you can see the east wing of the building with some other stuff in the background. Neo-Gothic stuff. Like towers with turrets. It's kinda surreal. It also looks completely fake, like someone built a space station in a medieval castle or something.

And its still freakin' orange.

They did build a convenience store in the new dining hall. Which is convenient because its really close. And because it's a convenience store. Convenient. -15 for the colors, style, and stupid little windows. However, +8 for convenient proximity to the convenience store. Also, while the courtyard is not yet finished (-3), they seem to be building fountains (+1).

Last time, the carpeting was criticized since it is basically concrete. This is true (-2). However, it is upholstered concrete. And if there's dirt on the floor, it doesn't turn into mud when you come back from the shower and your feet are still wet. Not so in the old building (+4). However, the crippling lack of storage space remains. Still two shelves and one small closet with two doors (-8). High ceilings remain in the good column since they allow for the Hendrix poster above the window, as well as relatively uninhibited Nerf basketball (+4).

Also, since last time, a doorknob was installed on our bathroom door. We now have a completely functional, in-suite bathroom (+12). However, the doorknob was not installed until the last week of winter quarter (-3).

The hallways are still that odd color. The doors still close automatically. The hallways are somewhat cold, deserted places. Not homey like the old building. -2 for the hallways, -8 for the atmosphere. However, plans for the ultimate fighting octagon are still in the works (+2). The stairs are also oddly colored (-2). The welds are still sloppy (-1), but the stairs have not collapsed (+1). Yes, it's only worth 1. Stairs aren't supposed to collapse.

They also seem to have fixed the elevator (+2).

The laundry facilities are still nice and have good capacity (+8). They have also added a card reader (no points for this, since it should've been there, but no deduction). However, there has been some laundry theft, perhaps due to the cold, sterile hallway environment (-1, they didn't take my stuff).

The lounge still suffers from lack of space and furniture, as well as ugly yellow windows (-8). However, I'm told we will be getting blinds soon (+2).

The vending machines are now well-stocked (+3) and we still have the new mailboxes (+1).
